Winter Diving Has Arrived...

1st June marks the beginning of winter. So what do we love about winter? Hot cups of tea whilst snuggled under a duvet watching a movie; soups, roasts and other winter warming food; fires; woolly jumpers and beanies; but most of all we love the great visibility that the colder water brings for divers.

DIVE TRIPS

We are still running regular local dive trips through the winter period. Check out the lastest trip schedule HERE.

For those who are dreaming of warmer climates,  winter we’ve organised a trip to Fiji, where the water is still warm, the soft corals are blooming and the tropical marine life is abundant . Our trip to Fiji is confirmed and filling fast. There is still time to join us...contact us now if you are interested.

NITROX FOR FREE!

nitrox_for_free.png

*We’re offering Nitrox fills for the same price as air, which means the prices start from $6 a fill with a 10 fill concession card.

This is an unbelievable offer – most dive centres in New Zealand charge $15-25 for the same fill. So, given that it doesn’t cost any more to fill a tank with Nitrox AND you don’t need any special equipment AND you get the following advantages from breathing Nitrox:

  • Greater safety
  • Extended bottom times
  • Shorter surface intervals
  • Less fatigue after dives

So why wouldn’t you use nitrox?

The course (dates below) involves one night of theory, (and costs $250), and then you can start using it straight away.

  • June 14 – Monday
  • July 9th – Friday
  • July 27th – Tuesday
  • August 23rd – Monday
  • September 14th - Tuesday

We’ve been asked by the sceptics amongst you if the price of our Nitrox is only going to be for a short time only, and, we are pleased to say that we intend to keep the price of a Nitrox 32 fill the same as air for all our customers who do their Nitrox course with us. It’s our way of saying thank you for your loyalty to your local dive centre.

For those who haven’t done their course with us, the Nitrox 32 fill costs the same price as air for now, but we cannot make any promises about the future.

REBREATHER TRY DIVES

inspiration.jpgWe’ve had so many questions about our rebreathers and so many curious people wondering what it would be like to dive without any bubbles and in a truly silent world (the fish make more noise than you would think!). So we’ve decided to have Rebreather TRY DIVES.
The evening will consist of a (basic!) explanation of the workings of a rebreather followed by half an hour dive in the pool. At a cost of only $75, it’s a fantastic opportunity to dive with an amazing piece of equipment.

The dates of our try dives are:

  • Wednesday 30 June
  • Thursday 8 July
  • Wednesday 4 August
  • Wednesday 25 August

Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited, so give us a call to book your place now!

DIVE COURSES

EFR
The Emergency First Response Course is a first aid course concentrating on in and around the water emergencies and how to effectively deal with them.

This course is useful if you are a diver or if you (or your kids) spend any time near the water...though let’s face it, you may want to shout your buddy the course because if you are ever in trouble, it’s your buddy who will have to jump in and save you!

The course costs $150, takes a few hours and is a hands on course (we have a lovely dummy called Anne). Our next course starts on Saturday 3 July at 2pm.

RESCUE
Rewarding and fun best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course gives you valuable hands-on experience in emergency management. You’ll learn to perform diver assists and rescues, manage dive accident situations and render first aid.
These are the skills that can make all the difference in the unlikely event of an underwater emergency. Although challenging, many divers say this is the best course they've ever undertaken

  • Theory - Monday 5 July and Monday 12 July
  • Pool sessions - Wednesday 7 July and Wednesday 14 July
  • Ocean sessions - Saturday 17 July and Sunday 18 July

LEARN TO DIVE - $100 off during winter months!
If you know someone who wants to do their open water course, please do tell them that we’re offering our Open Water Courses for ONLY $395 (normally $495) for our courses starting in June, July and August.
